Product Description:
Nalidixic Acid is a first-generation quinolone antibiotic that acts as a selective inhibitor of bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase II, enzymes crucial for DNA replication and transcription. Originally used clinically to treat urinary tract infections, it is now widely utilized in microbiology and molecular biology research.
This compound is particularly effective against a broad range of Gram-negative organisms including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., and Klebsiella spp., making it an important reagent in antibiotic sensitivity testing, mechanism of resistance studies, and drug development screening models.
